Patented Support for ankle instability, Sprain Prevention, & Stroke Rehab

Armor1 Ankle Roll Guard

The Armor1 Ankle Roll Guard is a patented & independently tested alternative to an ankle brace for ankle support that provides protection for your ankle from an inversion or “ankle roll”.  Unlike conventional ankle braces, the Armor1 wraps securely around the outside of any shoe type and allows you to retain full ankle mobility & comfort.  It provides ankle stability, balance, and protection if you have weak ankles, tend to frequently roll your ankles, or have a neuromuscular disorder.  Join the thousands of customers actively using this breakthrough solution for every day support or balance, in physical therapy, and various sports.

Features

  • Based on customer feedback and clinical testing, the patented design features a light-weight, durable EVA rubber material and silicone grips to shoes
  • Left/right option for optimal fit, protection, and placement of cushion under ankle ligaments
  • One size fits majority of shoe sizes and can be used on most shoe types, including cleats
  • Easy to put on, take off, and customize to shoes
  • Cushion is only 1.5” from side of shoe

Benefits

  • Outside shoe design allows user to retain ankle mobility and comfort while still having ankle protection (no ankle restriction like an ankle brace)
  • Provides ankle stability and protection for users with chronic lateral ankle instability (weak ankles, frequent rolls)
  • Clinical, independent testing at Boise State University (2 white papers published) using a motion analysis system showed equivalent inversion protection plus better range of motion and vertical jump versus a brace or tape
  • Will not damage shoes like an ankle brace
  • Weighs only 2.4 ounces so you don’t even feel it!

Testing

Independent Testing of the Ankle Roll Guard Completed at Boise State University (January 2018):

“Of all the devices (Ankle Roll Guard, Brace, Tape), only the Ankle Roll Guard appears to allow the user normal ankle motion (i.e. typical anatomical joint motion), while preventing excessive ankle inversion” -– Tyler Brown, PhD, CSCS, Director COBR

Conclusion: The Ankle Roll Guard provides similar prevention of excessive inversion as either the brace or tape, but without the mechanical restriction of the joint that reportedly limits physical performance when wearing ankle prophylactic devices. With the Ankle Roll Guard, participants exhibited more natural ankle motions (i.e. plantar flexion) during both the sudden inversion event and vertical jump. This motion allowed the participants to perform better during the vertical jump with the Ankle Roll Guard as compared to the more restrictive brace and tape.

"Haven't sprained my ankle since I started using them. The only time I rolled my ankle was the one time I forgot to put them on. They aid well in regaining strength in your ankle as well, since it doesn't restrict your ankle, making you depend on your ankle brace. Free range of motion and insurance for your ankle makes this one of the best alternatives to ankle braces!"

"This guard is fantastic! I just mowed my entire yard for the first time in years with no ankle issues. Usually takes me hours with an expensive ankle brace and then my ankle is swollen and I can barely walk. Just finished the yard in a hour and my ankle feels great! We have bad hills in the yard and not one roll of my ankle. Thank you thank you thank you"
